Liz Phair Set To Reissue Exile In Guyville

Say what you want about the career of Liz Phair, but her first few albums were fantastic. It is rather hard to believe that it has been fifteen years since the release of her groundbreaking debut album Exile In Guyville, which was her song by song response to the Rolling Stones’ album Exile On Main Street. The out of print album is being brought back to life a la special edition via ATO Records.

The reissue will be released on June 24 in multiple formats, including CD, vinyl and digital. It will feature four never-before-released tracks from the original recording sessions: “Ant In Alaska,” “Wild Thing,” “Say You” as well as an untitled instrumental.

There will also be a 60-minute DVD, titled Guyville Redux. On it you can hear from ATO founder Dave Matthews, an interview between Phair and Matador Records’ Gerard Cosloy Chris Lombardi, as well as producer Steve Albini, actor John Cusack and many more.

In other news, Phair is to release a new album this fall on ATO. They claim she has gone back to her D.I.Y. roots, so we’re mighty curious to hear what she has been up to.
