Coldplay To Give Away Free Single + Free NYC Show

Coldplay’s marketing machine is ramping up for the release of the band’s latest album, Viva La Vida. The record will be in stores on June 17, which was produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs. To start creating early interest in the new disc, the band has now announced that the first single, “Violet Hill,” will be available as a free download from their official website starting tomorrow (April 29) at 7:15 EDT. The free download will only last one week, after which it will then go on sale via digital retailers.

The band is also now set to perform a free concert in NYC at Madison Square Garden. The show will take place on June 23, with information about obtaining the free tickets going up on their website tomorrow. We will post the details here on the Tripwire once we get them. Stay tuned.
