The Tripwire crew has been a fan of singer/songrwriter Ed Harcourt for quite some time now, which is why we were beside ourselves when it was confirmed that he would indeed perform an acoustic session for us. Due to a very tight schedule, we had to film his performance fairly early in the morning, which was very early for a musician who is known for partaking in a beverage or two. I truly wish I could share the stories that he told in between songs, but I most definitely don’t want him to rugby tackle me the next time we cross paths.
What I can share with you are the two songs he performed, both of which come from his latest album, The Beautiful Lie. The CD is finally getting a US release on June 3 via Dovecote Records. These renditions of “The Last Cigarette” and “Shadowboxing” left us with our jaws on the floor and chills running down our spines.
