Warning – Use Caution When Attending Russian Raves

This ranks as one of the weirdest stories we’ve seen in quite some time. Apparently a number of ravers at an event in Russia suffered severe eye damage from lasers. This rave near Moscow injured the eyes of dozens of attendees, which is some pretty scary shit.

According to Reuters (via MSNBC), the rave kids suffered retinal burns, with plenty of visible scarring. The story goes that due to heavy rains, the outdoor rave organizers erected tents to shelter the attendees. The problem was that the lasers were supposed to shoot up into the sky, but the tents reflected some of their rays off the tent and into people’s eyes. Ouch!

So the next time you’re considering a flight out to Russia for a rave, think twice before heading out the door with your favorite baggy pants and a candy necklace. To read this unfortunate story in its entirety, head over to MSNBC.
