The Pretenders Return With First New Album In Six Years

It has been six years since we’ve gotten a new album from The Pretenders, and it seems that our wait is just about over. The band has completed work on Break Up The Concrete, which will be their ninth album from their legendary career. The disc will land in stores on September 23 via Shangri-La Music, which you might recognize as the US home for The Duke Spirit’s latest album, Neptune.

Break Up The Concrete was recorded with a speedy ten days, resulting in a much more stripped down, rootsy sound that we’re anxious to hear. This time round we see Chrissie Hynde collaborating with an entirely new group of musicians, including guitarist James Walbourne, pedal steel player Eric Heywood, bassist Nick Wilkinson and legendary drummer Jim Keltner.

Shangri-La has put together a virtual scavenger hunt, allowing fans to pick up MP3s as we near the release of the new album. This week you can roll over to
Spinner
and snag the track “Boots Of Chinese Plastic.”
