Sure Pitchfork might have beaten us to the punch, but what do you expect – they anointed ‘em.
Crystal Antlers – the media darlings from the West Coast – have ridden the wave of their newfound notoriety on the heels of Pitchfork’s “Best New Music” tag straight into the arms of Chicago’s Touch and Go Records. In fact, considering that most of their business relations reside in the capital of the Midwest and the folks at the ‘fork are obviously fans, they might want to consider moving out that way.
All conspiracy theories aside, the pseudo psych rockers from Long Beach are actually a very impressive outfit and will re-release their “best” self-titled EP via the seminal label this fall on both CD and wax. Plans are in the works for a debut full-length, but first they will need to finish up the non-stop touring they’ve been doing. They just finished up an East Coast leg – including a huge midsummer show in Brooklyn – and won’t be back until CMJ, but rest assured Pitchfork will keep us updated until then.
