Metal Supergroup Shrinebuilder To Enter And Report Live From Studio

shrinebuilder

Yesterday we received a cryptic e-mail from a friend stating that Shrinebuilder will enter the studio no later than January 10 and that we should post it immediately. Why? We asked. Because Shrinebuilder is comprised of Scott “Wino” Weinrich of Saint Vitus and Hidden Hand, Dale Crover of The Melvins, Scott Kelly of Neurosis and Al Cisneros of Om.

While we missed the boat on breaking it, it’s still worth noting that the band’s full-length debut is set for release this summer on Neurot Recordings, and with talented musicians like these combining their powers, it is sure to make a musical force that will rival Captain Planet.

The guys will be in the studio with Toshi Kasai this weekend (Jan. 9-11), and Scott Kelly will be reporting live from the studio via his blog beginning no later than Saturday, Jan. 10. Fans can also expect a few guest blog entries from other members of Shrinebuilder as well as some in-studio photos of the mayhem. While we eagerly await the results, we’ll steal a line from one of our respected colleagues and predict that “this stoner-metal Mount Rushmore is probably going to make us want to celebrate by going out and killing a lion and then using the lion’s skull to make a bong.”

Win Tickets To See FELA! On Broadway

We’re not sure Fela Kuti’s epic story should be told in any other format besides the musical, and we don’t even like musicals!  That said, it just so happens we’re giving away two tickets to see the show for zero dollars. All you need to do is leave us a haiku in the comments before [...]
