Ian Broudie, the famous brainchild behind Liverpool-based band The Lightning Seeds, has been circulating news for the past two years that he and the band were preparing new material for an upcoming album. Finally after a ten year hiatus, the Seeds have announced that they will be gracing our eardrums with new music this early summer.

The new album, which will be released in June, is the first collective effort from the band since 1999’s Tilt. The Lightning Seeds have released five albums on Epic Records dating back to 1989’s Cloudcuckooland and since their last release, Broudie has worked on various solo projects; producing bands, and releasing his own solo album, Tales Told, in 2004. The Lightning Seeds are also known for their drummer Zak Starkey, who is former Beatle, Ringo Starr’s son.

Further information regarding the band’s new, anticipated album have yet to be released, but we’re sure anglophiles everywhere will be chomping at the bit for this one.
