Release Date Announced For Rock Band: The Beatles, Countdowns Can Officially Commence

Fab Four fans, brace yourselves. Soon you will be able pretend to be John, Paul, George or Ringo not only from the safety of your own home, but with shocking graphics-induced realism, courtesy of the upcoming Rock Band: The Beatles game. The video game officially received a due date today, the unavoidably cute 09-09-09.

Plans for the game were announced late last year by Apple Corps Ltd. (the Beatles’ licensing company), MTV Games and Harmonix. We don’t yet know what songs will be included in the game, but Apple Corps CEO Jeff Jones said that the breadth of material would be career-spanning, stretching from Please Please Me to Abbey Road.

What we do know is that there’s a web site with nothing on it but that dramatic release date, 09.09.09, and a sort of poorly animated recording studio. Plus some corporate logos, obviously.

The game was designed and conceived with input from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. Rock Band-ites who buy the game will also have the chance to buy “a limited number of new hardware offerings modeled after instruments used by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr throughout their career.” Because your current fake plastic guitar and fake plastic drums, it seems, will not be as good as these extra-super-special fake plastic guitars and drums.

I love the Beatles. It’s a family tradition for us to sing their stuff on the holidays. I love this exciting (and funny) recent Ringo Starr Video too! http://bit.ly/WIuNW
