WTF – Sublime Reunites With New Singer, Video Proof

sublime

Say what you will about Sublime, the band fronted by the late Bradley Nowell was a staple of the early-to-mid 90s. While most people know them because of the hit single “What I Got”, from their self-titled third album, the band — rounded out by Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass guitar) — earned their status grinding it out in the L.A. punk and ska scene in the years prior. Which made Nowell’s death from a heroin overdose shortly before the hit LP’s release that much harder to bear considering it went on to sell over ten million copies. Well, it just got a bit worse.

From Wiki: On February 26, 2009, the surviving members of Sublime announced they would be reuniting on February 28th at Cantino Los Tres Hobres in Nevada. On March 1, 2009, Gaugh’s current band Del Mar insisted in their MySpace blog entry that the Cantino Los Tres Hobres gig was indeed a Sublime reunion and revealed that the band’s new singer and guitarist is Rome. In regards to the band’s future, Sublime has no “firm tour plans or anything yet”.

Wikipedia did not mention who “Rome” was beyond his first name, so we checked the Del Mar MySpace blog to see this:

So Del Mar played the gig at Cantina last night in Reno, it was packed and amazing. What really fucking killed it was SUBLIME reuniting and playing with new singer, Rome. We’re fucking stoked for Bud, Eric, and Rome – Bud’s still playing with Del Mar, and Sublime doesn’t have any firm tour plans or anything YET, but we’ll keep you posted on their progress.

And lastly we were tipped off to a YouTube page highlighting many (if not all) of the songs from the “reunion” show. Below is a clip of a reunited Sublime playing “Santeria”, live at Cantina.
