Hot Chip Cools Down For New Album

After the success of 2008’s Made In The Dark, Hot Chip have confirmed that they will be releasing a new album come 2010. Taking a more mellow, ambient approach than with their previous releases, the group is saying the new music will be more like “end of the night tunes.”

Joe Goddard, on of Hot Chip’s band members, told BBC 6music that the band was “Kind of stepping things down a bit because we want to make this next album quite simple, gentle, focused; just 10 or 11 tracks of really excellent pop songs that hopefully will become timeless classics.”

The records won’t be too far from the classic Hot Chip sound though, as Goddard said that the new material will be club tunes, but not the really “banging” ones. Goddard continued by saying that the band wanted to be able to create versatile material that could be played both acoustically or electronically. Along with recording a new album, Hot Chip will be playing a few gigs this summer, but Goddard hasn’t said whether or not the band will preview new material at the shows.
