The Fiery Furnaces To Release New Album In July

We’re going to say The Fiery Furnaces are some of Brooklyn’s indie-rock veterans. They are done recording their eighth record and are ready to release their newest studio album, I’m Going Away, on Thrill Jockey Records in July.

I’m Going Away was produced by Matthew Friedberger and was recorded in the beginning of 2009 in New York City. The sibling duo of Matt and Eleanor Friedberger wrote most of the music on the twelve-track record, which will be released on July 21.

The band is hoping that the new album will be able to enlighten listeners who are battling through the ‘tough times’ right now. In a note from Matt and Eleanor about the new record, the two said they wished that “some of the songs on the new record will be used as theme songs to folk’s own personal versions of Taxi (the tv show).” We’re not sure what they are getting at, but all we can think about now is Danny DeVito.
