The Wavves phenomenon has created a monster when it comes to the notion of bedroom recording artists “getting their hopes up.” But when we hear of one shining example from a 13-year old Midwestern kid, it begs the question to be asked: Is this the future of indie?
From Impose:
Technically the corollary to this fuzzy pop punk isn’t Wavves (though we wouldn’t blame you for disagreeing) as it is Tiny Masters of Today. This is some really young kid making punk music without the parental mainlines to Karen O.
Although, not everyone agrees:

He goes by the name Natural Numbers and you can download his Ocean Ghost EP here. We suggest checking out “Powhatan” and “Don’t Tell Me You Know”.

It’s great that this democratization of THE TOOLS has happened. Just as with the printing press, the electronic word processor, etsy, and whathave you.
That doesn’t take away the fact that 90% of stuff is utter shit.
I doubt this kid is in the 10%.
