Ponytail’s Dustin Wong To Drop Solo Record

Prior to being the seemingly always happy guitarist in Ponytail, Dustin Wong complimented Matthew Papich in Ecstatic Sunshine. Furthering upon this relationship, and yet another example of the family ethos that exists within the Baltimore music community, Papich’s boutique label Wildfire Wildfire will be putting out Wong’s first solo LP, Seasons.

[Seasons cover]

To be released June 2, Seasons is 6-years in the making and is explained as “a collection of work curated by the season each song was written in” — the A-side being “Spring” and “Summer” with “Fall” and “Winter” on the B. As the press release goes onto state, “the range of sonic energy truly is like frequent changes of light and scenery, the inherent extremes of speed throughout the year and throughout Dustin’s life — a life as much about diligent contemplation as it is about a dedication to play. Amazingly, this is only a small glimpse into the collection of impressive song-writing Dustin has created in his 25 years.”

You can listen to both tracks here, and while on their site, check out the impressive catalog Wildfire Wildfire has quietly amassed.
