Iggy Pop To Reunite Raw Power-era Stooges?

While the band started simply as The Stooges, their enigmatic frontman Iggy Pop inevitably took center stage. So when Ron Asheton, who played guitar on The Stooges and Fun House, was switched to bass in order to bring in James Williamson, who played all the guitar parts for Raw Power, the band became known as Iggy and The Stooges.

According to The Australian [via The Daily Swarm], Iggy has met with James Williamson for a likely reunion of most of the Raw Power lineup. Sadly, this obviously would not include the recently passed Ron Asheton.

“There is always Iggy and the Stooges, the second growth of the band,” Pop told The Australian’s Iain Shedden. “I had a meeting in LA last week with James (Williamson). It was the first time we had seen each other in 30 years. So we talked about doing something together. Raw Power would be the repertoire.”

Three of the four original members of the Michigan band re-formed as the Stooges in 2003 and toured regularly for five years, but they played nothing from Raw Power because the band’s line-up changed after its first two albums.
