The video is meant to incite an emotional response from the viewer, which it does. Additionally, there are many laws protecting children on film sets. These rules and regulations are incredibly strict. I guarantee you the child wasn’t in direct contact with these “monsters”. Green screens and savvy editing resulted in the final version. There are numerous video tricks that are employed by directors. As someone that has worked in film and video production for years, I can assure you that irrespective of how you feel about the band, there is no way they would have been able to actually traumatize the kid.

Yeah, it was definitely shot using camera tricks, green screens, and editing tricks. I’ve worked with child actors on film sets before (ranging in age from infant to pre-teen), and there are way too many rules in place to ensure the safety and well-being of these children. Additionally, there are always people on set to ensure that these rules are followed to the letter. Sony BMG, the band’s record label, would never have left room for liability lawsuits by putting the child in harm’s way.

Your outrage is simply a result of an effective video that was clearly meant to be disturbing. All these comments against the band, I don’t understand. Perhaps it’s simply ignorance as to how music videos and films are ACTUALLY MADE. Your theories about how much this child suffered are merely theories… the facts speak to the contrary.

This video is absolutely appalling. If we don't come together to stop this someone else will try this again. I have already called Child Protective Services and they referred me to local police. I'm still waiting to see where this leads me. I suggest you all do the same. According to Section 111 [42 U.S.C. 5106g] of the Child Abuse and Prevention Act, which states under Section 111.2 that "the term 'child abuse and neglect' means, at a minimum, any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation, or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm;". A complete copy of the Child Abuse and Prevention Act can be obtained online from The Children's Bureau of The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website under Laws and Policies (http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/laws_policies/cblaws/capta03/sec_I_111.htm).
