Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has been diagnosed with cancer of the parotid (salivary) gland and must undergo surgery immediately. Fortunately, the cancer itself had yet to metastasize and thus can be easily treated and removed, with no perceived threat to Yauch’s vocal chords. However, due to the severity of the disease, the Beastie Boys have cancelled their upcoming tour to provide Yauch with sufficient recovery time and have pushed back the release date of their latest album, Hot Sauce Committee Part I.
