I’m trying to remember another pop culture trend as weirdly “everywhere” as the new collective fascination with vampires has become. It’s Monday, I’m failing. There are Vampire Diaries billboards all over Manhattan right about now, True Blood seems to be killing it and with the news that Bon Iver and Thom Yorke will be lending their voices to the upcoming Twilight sequel’s soundtrack not quite in the rearview mirror, it’s becoming more and more clear that these bigger than the tween-0-sphere. On the heels of that Iver/Yorke/indie rock mindbomb comes news that Henry Rollins, Moby and Iggy Pop will be starring a Suck, a “vampire spoof about “rock ’n’ roll wannabes in search of immortality and a record deal.” In the film, a mullet-fortified Rollins fronts the Winners, a nascent band in the crosshairs of legendary vampire hunter Eddie Van Helsing, played by Malcolm McDowell. There will be twists and turns and liters of blood spillt and industry barbs and probably an overwhelming dose of sexual metaphors. Check the trailer above for a taste.
