Win Tickets to See Jay-Z on 9/11 @ MSG

jayz

Every now and then, when no one’s looking, we take off our indie rock hats and put something on with a little more swagger. When those moments call, it’s usually to spend some quality headphone time with our good friend Shawn Carter, or, as you might know him Jay-Z. We happen to have a pair of tickets to see Jay perform on September 11th at MSG as part of a benefit show to be televised live and commercial-free on FUSE at 9pm/8c. It’s for a great cause: all proceeds from the concert will go towards New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, an organization that has been helping New York City families of fallen first responders for over 25 years. So, if you would be so kind, leave us a haiku about your favorite Jay-Z or Blueprint record in the comment section. We’ll do the rest.

  1. Raymond Montgomery Says:

I love Jay-Z’s “Girls, Girls, Girls Remix.” Its the hidden track on Blueprint 1. Jay’s lyrically skills were at there finest. He took the track to a whole new level especially when he got to the third verse. That was my motto for any girl I dated for my entire high school career. And still to this day, that is a song that I get lost in, because it is so genius.

  2. Ayana Bailey Says:

I have loved Jay-Z since Reasonable Doubt. I listened to this album every day, all day, while I was in college. On Blueprint, Heart of the City (Ain’t no Love) is my favorite. Having aquired Lupus at 15, then on dialysis by 20, and a kidney transplant at 21, Jay-Z helped me stay focused and motivated with his lyrics and swag. I’m from NY, and he is just the greatest model of a NYC dude on the planet. I will always love Jay and thank him for all he’s done for the game.

  36. Kwasi Nyarko-Mensah Says:

    “Song Cry”-

When I first heard it-like most love songs-I didn’t get it. I had been in relationships, but never really been in love. You know the story: good-girl falls for troubled-but-decent Nas-type. It was great, we did everything together. Then it fell apart. I knew he was no good for me, and he openly cheated. So I sat and cried, and cried, and cried. And I cried some more. So when I couldn’t cry anymore I let the song do it for me. The song still gives me the blues, because it really communicates the pain of a failed relationship.

  52. Eric Says:

Got the hottest chick in the game wearin my chain. doesnt get any better than jay. saw him at the izod center with lil wayne and jay absolutely killed wayne. black albums def the best, every song is quality, you rarely see that in albums these days. jay is keepin it real by donating everything to the charities honoring the heroes we lost and supporting their families. as many of u probably did, i lost someone i was very close to who was a big part in my childhood and one of the greatest people ive ever met. he didnt even work in the world trade center. he got there early for a meeting because he had never been there and wanted to see just how magnificent it was. the planes hit well before his meeting was scheduled for. jay has the right idea with this concert.

With the weight of the world on his shoulda.Thats why they call him Hova, Far from being god, but worked god damn hard. $45,000 for a TICKET, companies went too damn far.
NYPD be at MSG, to put scalpers behind bars.

My little Haiku was inspired by Jay-z lycrical exercise from the Blueprint 1
hidden track. I tried to buy tickets yesterday at 12 noon. I had 3 PCs n 2 phones and still couldn’t get through. These scalpers are messing it up for the real fans

  63. Aysha Says:
