The Uptown Bar, once deemed “The House The Replacements Built”, was piled into the ground with a wrecking ball earlier today. City Pages has some photos of the desruction. The venue, which was sold earleir this year, hosted a month of so of farewell shoes as a tribute to the Twin Cities’ rock mecca it once was. The bar had made plans to re-open at a South Minneapolis location, but complications and liquor permit restrictions have prevented this from happening at this point. For now, it serves as a memory of a musical era in the Twin Cities as well as the band and legacy that was born out of it. Check the sweet video retrospect 89.3 The Current did in its honor above.
