Coldplay + A-Ha + Mew: Apparatjik

apparatjik

In a year of supergroups (see: Monsters of Folk, Them Crooked Vultures, the New York Knicks), another band arises from various other musical groups to join the fray: Apparatjik. The bizarrely named band features Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, A-Ha’s Magne Furuholmen, producer Martin Terefe and Mew’s Jonas Bjerre. In true fan fashion, various devotees of the group have attempted to piece together an underlying rationale behind the band’s slapdash website; their efforts were rewarded when the band gave 30 of its most loyal fans an exclusive track, titled “Electric Eye.” One of those fans, in turn, has shared it with the Internet-bound masses. On paper, this sounds like reason to unbind one’s self from the web. Check out that track and see if you agree. Not with us, but with paper. We haven’t disclosed an official opinion on the track yet. MAYBE WE NEVER WILL.
