Maybe we aren’t so nerdy after all: Scottish band The Yummy Fur will reunite this coming January to play a handful of dates in the UK and the US. The band, whom to be honest, we had never even heard of, featured 1990s singer John McKeown as well as Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thompson and singer Alex Kapranos. They’re set to play at Glasgow’s Nice N’ Sleazy on January 7, the first outing in a one-off tour that will feature McKeown and Thompson, along with former guitarist Brian McDougall. Kapranos has yet to become involved. He seems to be busy being famous.
The tour is meant to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the band’s label, Guided Missile, and will also accompany a Yummy Fur compilation album, which will be released at some point in January.
Tour dates are as follows:
01.07.10 Glasgow, Scotland @ Nice N’ Sleazys
01.09.10 London, England @ Buffalo Bar
01.14.10 Philadelphia, PA @ Kung Fu Necktie
01.15.10 Brooklyn, NY @ Lombardy
01.17.10 Los Angeles, CA @ The Echo
01.18.10 San Francisco, CA @ Cafe du Nord
01.20.10 Portland, OR @ Suicide Club

Absolute f***ing heresy!! This is what happens when you become an UBER INDIE SNOB – you get stuck in a niche/cravasse/arse crack and miss bloody loads of good stuff.
Guided Missile are a top label, v worth checking out, and I thought Yummy Fur were as reknown as say Urusei Yatsura, perfect time for a reunion. I don’t think Kapranos was ever a proper member to be honest….
