Exclusive Listen: Justin Townes Earle and Dawn Landes’ “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind”

justin-townes-earleThis might be the happiest song ever recorded about an ex. Seriously, when we read the title “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” we assumed this song would be forged of the same sad chords that Brian McKnight’s “Anytime” was. Instead it’s short, sweet, nostalgic and listenable for reasons that have little to do with moping. These two are about to go on tour together, and if this track (and the jazz hands improv at the end) is any indicator, the banter and chemistry should be delightful. If our break-up journal looked more like this song, maybe we could have skipped that whole emo phase in high school. Maybe.
