Frances Bean Cobain didn’t exactly finish out the last decade with a smile on her face. Four years after Courtney Love regained custody of Frances Bean following an alleged 2003 Oxycontin overdose, Courtney lost custody of the 17-year-old Frances Bean again in late December of last year. A few days later, Frances Bean filed a restraining order against her wayward mother. Needless to say, Christmas at the Cobain/Love household must’ve been a bummer.
Luckily, it looks as if Frances is already busying herself to avoid the current clusterfuck that is her familial relations; she’s scheduled to make her recorded debut as part of Dresden Dolls frontwoman Amanda Palmer and gypsy-punk ragamuffin Jason Webley’s latest project, Evelyn Evelyn, who will release their self-titled debut March 30 on Eleven Eleven. Frances lent her pipes to the song “My Space,” which also features vocal turns from Andrew W.K., Tegan and Sara, goth-fantasy writer (and Palmer’s husband-to-be) Neil Gaiman, and to top it all off, “Weird Al” Yankovic. 2010: the year where Frances Bean Cobain and “Weird Al” share equal billing on the same song. Kurt would be proud, surely.
