R. Kelly’s “Closet” Not Yet Closed and HAVE YOU HEARD “Echo” Yet?

Oh, boy. First, there was R. Kelly’s original five-part song-story-long-form-video-thing Trapped in the Closet, and that made us happy. You laughed, we laughed. Then, Kells was like, “Wait a minute, I have seven more chapters of this story for you,” and we were all, “We feel happier than before.” I mean, did you watch the “Director’s Commentary” on that DVD? It’s R. Kelly sitting in a screening room, watching Trapped in the Closet, smoking a cigar, and barely taking the time to make comments beyond “I like this part.” Ridiculous. THEN, the Teflon Don of R&B was like, “Wait wait wait, I filmed TEN MORE CHAPTERS of this thing.” Will Oldham (a.k.a. Bonnie “Prince” Billy) was in it, which made us feel weird — and the rest of the latest addition just made us feel like this had gone on way too long. Would the closet ever be closed? Who else is trapped? WHEN WILL IT ALL END?

True to his fashion, R. Kelly recently chose to answer none of these questions; instead, as The Daily Swarm points out, he posted a video to Twitter wherein he reveals that there are still more chapters of Trapped in the Closet on the way — fifteen more, to be exact. However, he says that he needs to know “if this is what you guys want from me.” Listen, Kells: Bring it on — but please, provide us with some sort of closure this time.

You can check out R. Kelly’s video message above — and if you haven’t heard his yodel-inflected new single, “Echo,” do yourself a favor and listen to it right now. It’s AMAZING. It’s also after the jump!
