Phantom Planet plans to tour relentlessly, sweetly seduce the ears of all human beings, and take over the world in 2002. Their forthcoming album, The Guest dropping February 26, is already slithering into programmer’s brains (like that thing from Kahn used in Star Trek 2) thanks to the success at specialty of the smashing “California.” This Live EP mixed album standouts “Lonely Day,” “In Our Darkest Hour,” with live versions of “Shadows,” “Nobody’s Fault,” and an unreal version of “California.” Can we say “California” one more time please…”California.” The Guest was produced by Producers Mitchell Froom (Tom Waits, Crowded House, Cibo Matto, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney) and Tchad Blake (Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, and Sheryl Crow). Look for drummer Jason Schwartzman to appear in Slackers this February, as well as singer Alex Greenwald in the independent movie Donnie Darko with Drew Barrymore this Spring.
