Simple Things

Quango / Palm

Simple Things was released on Palm in November 2001, but we are just now coming out of our New Year’s drinking coma, so cut us some slack. Zero 7 first tattooed their name on the music world by reconstructing Radiohead’s “Climbing Up The Walls,” along with tracks from Lenny Kravitz, Lambchop, Sneaker Pimps and others. Gracefully weaving in and out of the sound which Air perfected, the duo of Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns cite influences from soul and funk pioneers Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, and Charles Stepney. The hypnotic allure of Simple Things helped Zero 7 to a nomination for the Technics Mercury Music Prize for Album of the Year. Sia Furler acts as the tour guide on this peaceful trip, providing luscious vocals and complete insight into your “Destiny,” the first single from this dreamy disc.
