Theeyyyyy’re baaaack. The golden children of 1997, Cornershop have returned to
the fray with their first new material in almost five years. Having recorded an album under
their side-project pseudonym, Clinton and almost having disbanded due to
frustration with the music industry, the ‘Shop is back, and, dare I say, better than
ever. “Lessons Learned From Rocky I to Rocky III,” apart from being an early contender
for single title of the year, is a raucous romp through Rolling Stones and
Oasis territory, without a Eastern influence to be found anywhere. The track is a
riot, a big, funky guitar jam, complete with female backing vocals, and a bell rung like that at a
boxing match. Where’s Apollo Creed when you need him?? JEREMY P. GOLDSTEIN
