I’ve told you this before and I’ll tell you again, until you remember. Guitarist Nat met singer Gary in a small record store in their mutual hometown of St. Just, Cornwall. They started talking about the love of an album they both wanted but couldn’t afford. Halfway through the conversation, each recognized who the other was: friends had been trying to put the two together for music’s sake, but neither had taken the initiative. But this freak meeting was all it took for
Haven to take flight. The star-scraping quartet then relocated to Manchester,
grabbed the attention of one-time Smiths’ manager Joe Moss, jammed with
Johnny Marr and were called “life-affirmingly brilliant” by the NME. Marr produced their debut, Between The Senses, which has been reworked for the US market. “Let It Live” has been remixed, the running order has been altered, and two tracks, “Sleep” and “Outside” have been added to the UK release, but it’s still as brilliant as it was in the winter when the album came out in the band’s homeland. “Til The End,” remains as stunning, “Let It Live” is equally moving in its remixed form and “Say Something” still begs for soundtrack exposure. The band will be touring in October with Swedish rockers Division of Laura Lee. I strongly suggest you find a way to make it.
