Woo woo! Electroclash is still in the house! And even though the sun seems to be setting on that niche genre, anytime you get a release from a band like Client, it’s worth discussing. Client, who feature silky-voiced ex-Dubstar chanteuse Sarah Blackwood and Kate Holmes, who is Alan McGee of Creation/poptones’ better half, pair ’80s synths and sparse new wave beats with that aforementioned angelic vocal quality on “The Price Of Love.” B-side “Client” finds the girls in much harsher territory, summoning the dark, computer world music of Ladytron or Kraftwerk and with much rougher vocals, ones that will excite anyone with a German Darth Vader fetish. The single is the true shining element of this release, though, and fans of St. Etienne or the fallen Dubstar will at once want to become involved with Client.
