Anger. Rage. Fury. That about encapsulates the vibe of The Bronx. Not actually hailing from The Big Apple but instead the sprawling metropolis 3000 miles away of Los Angeles, on their self-titled debut, this quartet straps on the guitars, steps on the gas and puts the pedal to the metal. Yes, it came out in the US at the end of last summer, but they’ve recently released the record in the UK and added bonus tracks, so bear with me. Album opener ìHeart Attack American,î while not an ode to the supersizing of meal deals, may still cause a few palpitations in Des Moines, with its searing guitars and shouty vocals courtesy of Matt Caughthran. The So Cal guitar manglers end The Bronx with a nod to local legends X, covering the tribute to both bandsí hometown ìLos Angeles.î Whether from NYC or LA or points in between, if itís dirty punk rock action you seek, look no further. It worked enough for producer and ex-Guns ëN Roses man Gilby Clarke. It should work for you.
