The Trial Of The Century

The French Kicks
The Trial Of The Century

StarTime International

For their second full length effort, The French Kicks recruited knob twisting genius Doug Boehm (The Vines, Saves The Day, Guided By Voices) to man the helm. It’s incredibly clear from the very first song on the 11-track LP that, much like their one-time label mates the Walkmen, The French Kicks are coming in to their own as musicians, songwriters and live performers. All cylinders are beginning to fire in rhythm now, as the band has honed their hipster indie pop sound to an exacto knife of pure musical bliss. Songs like “One More Time,” “Following Waves” and “Don’t Thank Me” show how the French Kicks have been able to tighten and clean up their songs, while still maintaining the off-kilter charm of their last effort, One Time Bells. With an already established and continually growing fan base brought about from non-stop touring mixed with this hip-to-the-last-drop-yet-accessible-to-the-mainstream new album, The French Kicks should quickly become a coveted commodity for major labels and marketing execs looking to tap into the cool crowd.
