The man known to the world as Junior Jack and to his parents as Vito Lucente has been at this dance music game for over a decade. Recording under different names, the Italian man who lives in Belgium has made dance 12”s since the early ‘90s. by the 21st century, Junior Jack had chosen his current moniker and topped the European dance charts. Now, with Trust It, JJ has culled some of his greatest singles in the past two years and is ready to excite North American listeners with his brand of underground house. Whether the title track, the Daft Punk-esque filtered disco house of “Da Hype,” or the bootylicious floor filler that is “Thrill Me,” the man has his way with ass-shaking house, gladly lacking in any cheese factor. Then to top it all off, there is a second version “Da Hype,” that features vocals from the guest vocalist of choice over the past year, Robert Smith of The Cure. If the thought of Smith’s classic vocal over a house tune scares you, it shouldn’t: in fact, it should be a reason to make you go pick up the album.
