Tegan & Sara are a pair of cute, twentysomething, Canadian twins with a knack for writing the catchiest pop/rock songs you’ve ever heard. Since signing to Neil Young’s Vapor Records in 2000, they’ve spent time on the road with Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright and even the label owner himself, honing their skills. Their latest album, So Jealous, was created with a great deal of help from the Canadian Postal Service. Both girls lived on opposite sides of the country and sent demos back and forth to one another for additions/critiques. The result is 14 songs of pure, hook-filled, harmony-rich bliss. The album was preceded by the single “Walking With A Ghost” at commercial specialty, but I kid you not when I say that every single song on this record is radio-ready. “You Wouldn’t Like Me”, “Downtown”, “I Bet It Stung”, and 10 others will have you singing along on the first listen. Call them a guilty pleasure, or call them some of the most talented young female songwriters on the planet. Either way, they deserve your attention.
