The Vacation
Band From World War Zero

World's Fair/Echo

Remember when the Datsuns used to rock your ass off? Fortunately an American band has stepped back up to the plate to reclaim the rock & roll throne. The Vacation has given us eleven songs of sex, booze and prostitutes. Finally, an album that makes you want to roll your windows down, throw some devil horns up in the air and show off that sexy wife-beater you have been waiting to wear. The Vacation is a four-piece band from Hollywood, fronted by twin brothers Ben and Steve Tegel. A rock band from Hollywood that is more about their music rather than image may seem like fiction, but this is a fact Jack! This isn’t indie rock. Nor is it any other form of trendy hipster danceable rock. This is straight up fucking rock & roll. They look back to the balls out glory days of AC/DC and The Rolling Stones and meld it together with snotty American garage rock. The album explodes with the catchy opening track “White Noise”. This is the type of song that contains an infectious chorus, which just won’t leave your head. Pay attention radio guys, as this shit is gold! Having Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air) on production duties helped balance out the greasy rock with just enough glossy sheen to make this record irresistible. Skip ahead a few tracks and you’ll end up on one of the finest tracks on this album, titled “Destitute Prostitutes”. Huge guitar riffs, Ben Tegel’s slightly paranoid vocals and a scream-along chorus will have your fist pumping in the air. Go grab a beer, turn the volume up, and enjoy one of the finest rock albums you will hear this year.
