Sing Along With The Acid House Kids is a CD that’s been over ten years in the making. Sweden’s Acid House Kings formed way back in 1991 with a desire to make some of the finest guitar pop music this side of 1963. In 1992, the band created a 10-year plan that was to carry them into the new millennium. The result was a trio of albums, 1992’s Pop, Look And Listen, 1997’s Advantage Acid House Kings, and 2002’s Mondays Are Like Tuesdays And Tuesdays Are Like Wednesdays, the last of which introduced the femme vocals of Julia Lannerheim, who joined Joakim Odlund (Poprace, Starlet) and brothers Niklas (Red Sleeping Beauty) and Johan Angergard (Club 8, The Legends) as a full time member. The newly released Sing Along With The Acid House Kings is the result of the band’s second 10-year plan. Blending the pop songwriting genius of Burt Bacharach with charming boy-girl vocals and perfect harmonies, Acid House Kings continue their legacy of making timeless pop music with the this album. In just over 35 minutes, the album does exactly what the title suggests. It actually encourages a sing-a-long. Songs like “Do What You Wanna Do”, “The Heart Is A Stone”, ” I Write Summer Songs For No Reason”, and “Tonight Is Forever” will literally have you singing along, quite possibly on the first listen. In fact, Acid House Kings are so sure that you’ll love singing their songs, Sing Along With The Acid House Kings actually comes as a two-disc package with a free karaoke DVD (supposedly the first time in music history that that’s been done). Fans of chamber pop, indie pop, twee-pop, or any other combination of “pop” with an adjective in front of it will love Sing Along With The Acid House Kings. I know I do.
