Stripper

Soho Dolls is a name that surely must have been taken already, isn’t it? It’s just a perfect London band name (or NYC band name, for that matter). Evidently, the moniker was not already snatched up, so this three-girl/one-boy combo took the title for their own and ran with it. Trafficking in scuzzy electropop with just the right amount of edge, Soho Dolls are an intriguing bunch. Coming across like Goldfrapp and Kenickie in a streetfight over who gets to shag The Faint, “Stripper” is a jam and a half. It’s also possibly the perfect tune to match the video for Goldfrapp’s “Train” or Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up”, all sleazy beats and tawdry subject matter. With its stompy tempo, chunky guitar riff, and sexily breathy vocals, the track is a natural for the indie club dancefloor, or the bedroom at 4AM with a new “friend”. Try it out and tell me how it works.
