Remember Tetra Splendour? The Welsh rock act existed in 2002 and 2003 and then plummeted to Earth, only to be resurrected as the soaring People In Planes, after adding a permanent keyboard player. Now a quintet, the passengers have released a US-only EP on Wind-Up, called, er, People In Planes EP. Formed out of a love of Supergrass’ debut album I Should Coco (that album’s producer, Sam Williams, also produced People In Planes’ forthcoming debut long-player) and falling somewhere on the musical spectrum alongside Radiohead and Jeff Buckley, People In Planes vary instrumentation, tempo, and vibe on the 4-track EP to great effect. Plus, any band that names a song (and a mighty fine one at that) “If You Talk Too Much (My Head Will Explode)”, has obviously spent far too much time in coach class, seated next to the type of person all frequent flyers dread. The full length, As Far As The Eye Can See, won’t be available domestically until March 28, so there’s plenty of time to be immersed in the wonderful journey that is their debut US EP. Embark already.
