Anvil Making a Push For Best Picture

Anvil, the documentary released this year that made Canadian hair metal semi-relevant for the first time… well… ever, might be a bigger force than we realized. Producer Rebecca Yeldham recently admitted that her and her fellow crew will be pushing for the lofty bid of Best Picture at the upcoming Academy Awards nominations, in addition to the Best Documentary award they’ll likely be nominated for.

And lest we forget, it is an underdog story that Woody Harrelson wouldn’t have seemed totally out of place in. So it’s basically a combination of the last two winners right? (Via: The Daily Swarm via Billboard)

M.I.A. Gets Oscar Nod While The Boss Is Snubbed

In the ever confusing world of Oscar nominations, Golden Globe winner for Best Original Song “The Wrestler” by Bruce Springsteen was left completely off the list of potential Academy Award nominees. That being said, there were only three nominees listed as opposed to the customary five, so maybe there will be more forthcoming? Meanwhile, in bigger news, M.I.A. is getting attention for a song not named “Paper Planes”.
