The 2nd Annual Hillbilly Haiku Americana Festival Invades Bloomington, IN

We love haikus. We love beer. We love roots music. We love good causes. So it seems like a no-brainer than to inform those of you within driving distance of Bloomington, Indiana that all of those things have come together in a way for the 2nd Annual Hillbilly Haiku Americana Festival, which will be taking place at Upland Brewery on September 12th. From the horse’s mouth:

100% of the proceeds, including admission, beer, and food receipts, are donated to Sycamore Land Trust. The mission of Sycamore Land Trust is to preserve the disappearing landscape of southern Indiana. The efforts of SLT help conserve land in order to provide a habitat for wildlife, protect scenic beauty, and provide places for outdoor enjoyment and education. SLT currently protects over 5,500 acres in southern Indiana, stretching from Brown County to Evansville, and it has helped plant over 54,700 trees. Last year’s Hillbilly Haiku raised $5,000, but our goal is to raise $10,000 ever year and create a permanent funding source for the organization’s operating budget

The brewery grounds (at 350 W 11th Street) will open at 3pm, music will start at 4pm and go until 11pm. Bring chairs and blankets to ensure a comfortable seat. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 at the Upland Tap Room, and by phone or internet from the Buskirk Chumley ticket office (812.323.3020 or www.buskirkchumley.org ); tickets will be $25 on the day of the show. Hillbilly Haiku is a family-friendly event, and children under 12 are admitted free.

And a list of bands confirmed to play:

Backyard Tire Fire
Sara Petite
Merrie Sloan and Toby Purnell of Crooked County
