Brooklyn synth-poppers and iPod peddlers Chairlift have announced dates for their upcoming tour of North America and Europe. The band will be hitting the road with exciting names like Phoenix and Micachu & The Shapes, amongst others.

We Are The Wiley Benefit

Tonight at The Shank, catch Chairlift, Adam Green and Lightspeed Champion as they gather together to support beloved local musician, Jon Wiley. Earlier this year, Wiley was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and tonight’s benefit show has been put together to help raise awareness as well as the funds to help pay for Wiley’s health care. Brooklyn bands have joined together with Wanduta – a new, national organization designed to support and protect independent musicians. Come one come all and celebrate for a good cause! Tickets cost $15 – all proceeds go to Wiley’s medical bills.

Sweden’s pop trio Peter Bjorn and John are celebrating their 10 years of band existence this year, and the mention of this led to a festive cheer at a sold out Music Hall of Williamsburg last night. Walking out onto the dark stage in hoola hoops, when these had no further use, the band’s one-third namesake and front man, Peter, offered plenty of jumping and dancing throughout the night.

Blogs, online forums and fans alike were abuzz about Brooklyn’s four-piece, Suckers, long before the release of their self-titled EP on I Am Sound Records earlier this month. Much of this was based on the strength of their live shows — though these were were mostly limited to New York — and an old four-track demo that closely resembles the new EP. That even a brief exposure to their music enables you to grasp their fresh aesthetic has probably been their greatest advantage.
