FYF (formerly Fuck Yeah Fest) is back and taking place at the Los Angeles Historic State Park in Downtown LA on Saturday, September 5th, 2009. Tickets are going for $20 a pop and are on sale now. FYF will also be donating $1 of every ticket to two organizations, Homeboy Industries and Harvest of Hope.
This year, the event is attached to an urgent awareness regarding the California State Park System where the governer recently decided to cut $14.2 million in funding, bringing over 100 California State Parks to the brink of closure. I first experienced the Crystal Antlers at last year’s CMJ. I wasn’t there to see them; I was basically there to partake in the free drinks. The boozy hipster crowd was quite loud and sociable amongst themselves, until the Antlers strummed the first feedback drenched riff of their set and propelled head first into one of the most clamorous-yet-invigorating rock shows I had seen all week.
