A while back it was reported that Daft Punk had signed on to score Tron, a film not about the lovable crackhead who becomes the world’s richest man by turning slave reparations into billions in a hot game of dice, but rather that crazy intergalactic Disney/Jeff Bridges movie from 1982. However, yesterday, Olivia Wilde, who stars in Tron Legacy, the sequel to the much-beloved Tron, spilled the beans to MTV that not only would Daft Punk score the film, but Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, or at least some dudes dressed like Guy & Thom, actually appear in the film. No word yet on whether or not Kanye will sample their score, remix their appearance, super impose himself in the scene and release Tron Legacy: The Yeezy Years, a visual representation of Tron as a blipster. Tron Legacy hits theaters in December 2010. The Yeezy remix drops next week.

So sure, Daft Punk already basically sounds like a machine manufactured to churn out hits, but never a machine you could make for yourself or else the record execs would have obviously made like a billion by now and saved the industry. Duh. So the fact that some random YouTube user (what up Denkitribe) was able to program his “machine” (read: combining the Korg synthesizer with the ole’ Nintendo DS) to basically play a better version of Daft Punk’s “Stronger” than plenty of house DJ’s spend weeks tryign to mix is pretty damn impressive. Check out the video below to see for yourself. There are a lot worse ways to spend two minutes of your life. (Via: Gizmodo)

Everyone’s favorite French robot costume-wearing duo, Daft Punk, produced Douglas Armour’s new music video for his song “Flushed & Flamelike, Themselves.” Daft Punk’s production company, Daft Arts, is otherwise best known for producing and distributing the film Electroma about (surprise!) two robots. In a thematic departure, this video actually features no robots or technology whatsoever. Instead, it stars an Andrew W.K. look-alike running around headbanging in nature, all in slow motion. As awesome as that description sounds, we suggest you see for yourself above.

A short 27 hours, three minutes, and 44 seconds put Canadian producer and musician Gonzales as the new record holder of the longest solo concert in the Guinness Book of World Records over the weekend. Starting Sunday shortly after midnight, he played selections from such luminaries as Beethoven and Britney Spears, performing 300 pieces in total on the piano. Guinness did allow the 37-year old short breaks in between songs and 15 minute rest periods every three hours so that the man’s fingers would not fall off.

“I like to see lady drummers. It’s fucking cool,” says one of the security guards at Popscene as The Whip plow through their soundcheck. The Manchester quartet are in town to open for fellow UK outfit Late of the Pier, but in two short hours the Mancs will blow their contemporaries out of the front door and onto the alleyway outside of the club.
