Last week, Telepathe finally released their long-awaited, David Sitek-produced LP Dance Mother to the world, and we figured what better way to celebrate than a friendly game of bowling? Shot on the exact date of the physical U.S. release (April 14), we quickly came to realize that the competitive spirit burns brightly in this duo as the game soon became anything but friendly.

A friend of the Tripwire sent us the new Holly Miranda record a couple weeks ago and we’ve been obsessed with the song “Slow Burn Treason” ever since. Despite the fact she just finished the recording and has yet to announce any release plans (we were told by her management it is coming out “later this year”), we’re going to go on the record saying this is the best record David Sitek has produced since Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes.

In case you were wondering the criteria for our best of 2008, it’s the result of the accumulated average of our writers and contributors picks. So while some records were universally lauded, if they were easily classifiable or polarizing, they seemed to fare worse than those that could be appreciated by a wide variety of people. Thus coming in at #11, the Foals Antidotes.
