Boston’s Drug Rug, a band we hold near and dear, did a beautiful cover of Lazy Smoke’s “Sarah Saturday” for the FADER’s At The Bar With Southern Comfort series. The duo add just the right amount of jounce and bounce to the original, something they’re cut out for anyway. Also be wise and check out Luke LaLonde of Born Ruffians covering the Boss’ “Born On Fire” for the series. So good.
Cambridge’s Drug Rug was our favorite band for a minute back in 2007, the sun-blasted vocal harmonies on that self-titled debut of theirs enough to convince us we needed to start dating someone we could jam with as soon as possible. They’re back with a new record full of Galaxie 400-meets-the Dead stompers and the timing couldn’t be better—their country needed them. Paint the Fence Invisible is out July 28.
