Well, it looks like playing twelve hour marathon sets, appearing on Fox News and getting preppy with lead Vampire Weekend bro Ezra Koenig has paid off for Toronto’s Fucked Up. The Canadian band, whose members include 10,000 Marbles, Pink Eyes, Mustard Gas, Concentration Camp, Guinea Beat, and Young Governor, was awarded the Polaris Prize last night for their 2008 epic hardcore album The Chemistry of Common Life. Of course, winning $20,000 grand and having their album named the best Canadian album of 2008 hasn’t changed Fucked Up at all, who, after receiving the prize, performed a set with friends in Final Fantasy and Lullaby Arkestra before Pink Eye’s stripped down to his skivvies and most likely belted himself in the head with his microphone a few times.
