Last night, Brit electro-funkers Hot Chip dropped by one of the better venues in New York — that is, the set of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon — to drop some dance-y knowledge from their new album, One Life Stand, on America’s after-hours couch potatoes. Oh, and look who give them some rhythmic assistance — the Roots! Take it from us: with these two getting together, there’s more thumping and grooving than a year’s worth of Ibiza anthems. Hey, NBC: hire Hot Chip on as a second house band along with Questlove and his mighty men. That would be Must-See TV.
Check out clips of Hot Chip and the Roots performing “Take It In” (which wasn’t featured in the original broadcast) above — and while you’re at it, watch the dynamic sorta-duo perform “One Life Stand” below.
Susan Boyle captivated the world with her jaw-dropping rendition of “I Dream A Dream,” inspiring eyes to pop out of their sockets and prompting Simon Cowell to look as if he had just found his biggest cash cow ever. Now that she has conquered the Top 40 charts, she seems to have set her sights on capturing the hearts and minds of indie rock’s elite: Hot Chip has penned a song in her honor. Bandmember Joe Goddard revealed to NME that “Keep Quiet,” a track from the band’s forthcoming album, One Life Stand, was written immediately after he too witnessed Boyle’s earth-shattering performance. “I’d never seen it before and I found it quite incredible,” he said. “Just listening to that made me want to write a song. I sent the track to Alexis [Taylor] and he quickly wrote the words and sent it back.”
This is quickly becoming a month of early holiday season treats for American-based Hot Chip fans. First came the announcement that One Lofe Stand, their much anticipated follow-up to Made In The Dark, will see a February release date. Then that wonderful new song of theirs. Now comes the news they’re bringing their non-stop electropop show stateside again this April. They’re also pairing with Tripwire faves The xx for all these dates, which should prove to be an interesting tour dynamic. Dust off your dancing shoes and check the dates below.

Hot Chip is no stranger to year-end lists. So while they won’t be making any this year, at least their name will now be fresh in the thoughts of those making them. The band just announced that their fourth album, One Life Stand, will be released February 9.
The band also told NME that the album features the drumming of The Invisible’s Leo Taylor and This Heat’s Charles Hayward. The first single has not yet been decided, but the song “Take It In” will be available for free download when pre-ordering the album from the band’s site. So get prepared now. They seem nice and dancy and whatnot, but you heard all those threads they made on The Warning. Dudes mean business. (Via: NME)

We’re not sure Fela Kuti’s epic story should be told in any other format besides the musical, and we don’t even like musicals! That said, it just so happens we’re giving away two tickets to see the show for zero dollars. All you need to do is leave us a haiku in the comments before [...]
