Director Stephanie di Guiusto made good use of Jarvis Cocker’s string cheese build when she shot the below clip for the former Pulp frontman’s “Further Complications” video. The song’s got an awfully jagged edge, but the visual is as goofily understated as one might hope. Check it out.
Respectable musicians writing songs for lowbrow teen movies continues to be in vogue with Jarvis Cocker’s contribution to the upcoming Forgetting Sarah Marshall spinoff, Get Him to the Greek. Mr. Cocker has written three songs for Russell Brand’s character, a pathetic rockstar attempting to prepare a tour. Looks like they gave the costume department a break with that casting decision (ZING!). About the songs, Jarvis says they’re “rather silly, but it’s a silly film.” The movie also stars Jonah Hill and Rose Byrne, and is scheduled for release in 2010. (via Billboard)
Once again, the interwebs are a source of cool free stuff. You can hear a previously unreleased Jarvis Cocker song entitled “You’re In My Eyes (Discosong)” by visiting his website. What’s even cooler about the track is that it’s a remix done by Pilooski, and was originally intended for his recent solo album, Further Complications. While you’re still brimming with love for Mr. Cocker, check out his North American tour dates, listed below.
