Additions to the lineup of the POP Montreal International Music Festival, the music extravaganza taking over the Canadian city from September 30 to October 4, have been announced. Performers recently added to the roster include Sufjan Stevens, Yo La Tengo, Jay Reatard, Micachu & The Shapes, Japandroids, Joel Plaskett, Kid Koala Presents: The Slew, Young Galaxy, Aids Wolf, and Ninjasonik, among others. These artists join musicians such as Fever Ray, Diamanda Galas, Butthole Surfers, Os Mutantes, Mono, Matt and Kim, and Destroyer, along with MANY other exciting bands and performers. Passes are still available for the epic event, with the Super Festival Pass available for $225 until September 30 and the regular passes for $75. An event not to be missed, for sure.
Jay Reatard released a new video for our viewing pleasure. In prep for the release of his album Watch Me Fall on August 18th, Reatard released the official video for “It Ain’t Gonna Save Me,” a single from this upcoming album. As if that wasn’t enough to post about, dates for his August West Coast In-store tour are below if you’re willing to trek out West.

Above is a trailer for “Waiting for Something,” a soon-to-be-released documentary about Memphis punk Jay Reatard. We predict his battles with alcohol may be a part of the story, but the teaser we’ve got here isn’t giving much away. Directors Alex Hammond and Ian Markiewicz will debut the film on Myspace August 4.
Shortly thereafter, Mr. Reatard has a slew of free, all-ages, instore performances along the west coast in support of his new album, Watch Me Fall, coming out August 18 (August 4th on vinyl) on Matador Records.

Jay Reatard is sending a new album our way, his first album since 2006’s epic Blood Visions. Mpfree “It Ain’t Gonna Save Me” has been around for a minute but another new jam, “Wounded” has just surfaced over on the trusty Matablog. Reatard, a dude who in the past has finished seven-inches just as often as he’s taken pisses, is doing vinyl snobs proud here: the Watch Me Fall LP will be available August 4, two whole weeks before its CD/Digital release August 18. “Wounded” below:
