Mastodon Receive Their Very Own German Beer

masto

Mahr’s Bräu, a renowned brewery in Bamberg, Germany, gifted Mastodon with its very own lager to honor the shredheads’ recent set on the German leg of the Sonisphere Festival. A limited, 200-bottle batch of Mastodon’s Premium Lager was waiting for the band as they rolled into the festival site over the weekend, all of which was most likely gone before they left. No word on whether or not they shared with the dudes in Linkin Park. (via The Daily Swarm)

Bombshell – Mastodon, Landmine Marathon, Torche

bombshell
Bombshell is Tripwire contributor Zeena Koda’s monthly metal column. In this, her first installment, Z sits down with Troy Sanders of Mastodon, Grace Perry of Landmine Marathon and the men of Torche.

Metal wouldn’t exist without three core things — intoxicants, babes and the BOOM. In this edition of Bombshell we have the trifecta for you; a legit babe who slays the mic with intelligence and beauty, as well as two seminal intoxicant heavy bands that have carved out a mark for a generation of new metalheads to adore (see: they bring the motherfuckin’ BOOM). I promise, with all the female advice you’ll get from this column, you’re one step closer to getting laid.

It’s ‘gone viral’ as the kids say, and rightfully so: it’s easily one of the best videos of the last five years. Incorporating host of visual delights, including excessive beer consumption, live action role playing, creative recycling and Monty Python-esque gore, you owe it to yourself to seek it out immediately. In fact, the video is so good that you might be distracted from the fact that Red Fang are much more than an awesome video. That would be doing the four Portland natives a great disservice, as a trip through the self-titled Red Fang debut will assert quite definitively that they are nothing less than a full-on four-piece Metal onslaught.
